August 30, 2010 - UNDERSTANDING OUR REVISED CONTRACT
Our office has received several calls from French Quarter businesses and residents since the City of New Orleans renegotiated its contract with SDT effective August 12th. In an effort to help you understand the changes, below is a description of what services SDT is providing and what services have been assumed by the City. We have also outlined those services that neither SDT nor the City is providing under the recently negotiated settlement.
SDT is responsible for the following services under our contract with the City of New Orleans:
- Removing curbside debris from a list of 4062 addresses in the French Quarter and the Downtown Development District
- Litter can debris removal in the French Quarter
- Mechanical Sidewalk Sweeping in Commercial Areas of the French Quarter
- Bourbon Street (from Canal to St. Ann) – 3x per week
- Royal Street (from Canal to St. Ann) – 1x per week
- Chartres Street (from Canal to St. Ann) – 1x per week
- Decatur Street and N. Peters Street (from Canal to Esplanade) – 3x per week
- Cross Streets – 1 x per week
- Daily Manual Street sweeping in Commercial Area of the French Quarter
- Pressure Washing in Commercial Areas of The French Quarter - 3 times per week
- Street Flushing in Commercial Areas of the French Quarter - 7 times per week
- Once per week bulky waste removal (On Wednesday's by appointment only)
The City of New Orleans' Sanitation Department is responsible for the following services:
- Daily Debris removal from Litter Cans in the Downtown Development District
- Removal of Debris left down at ineligible addresses or anyone not on the list of 4062 addresses
Services that SDT nor the City will be providing:
- Manual street sweeping on Frenchman Street
- Street Flushing with SDT's patented lemon scented Super Fresh 5 times per day
- SDT's motorized carts which swept the entire quarter periodically for random trash left in the streets or curbside
- Pressure washing outside of our service area ( St Ann to Esplanade / Bourbon to Rampart / Frenchman St)
- 7 days per week pressure washing the entire French Quarter
- SDT will not be cleaning up in the French Quarter after any event or parade unless authorized to do so by The City of New Orleans.
